Set up Main accounts1 screen
Used to add main accounts with a main account type, category, default currency, legal entity overrides, and financial reporting exchange rate settings.

Create the main account
Go to General ledger > Chart of accounts > Accounts > Main accounts
- Select New
- Enter the main account number and name
- Set the main account type

Microsoft's steps
- Go to General ledger > Chart of accounts > Accounts > Main accounts.
- Select New.
- In the Main account field, enter the account number.
- In the Name field, enter a name.
- In the Main account type field, select the type that matches the account's balance and place on financial statements.
- Select the main account category the account belongs to.
- Change the default debit or credit balance if needed.
- In the Default currency field, select a currency.
- In the Legal entity overrides section, add legal entities and select Suspended where the account must not be used.
- In the Financial reporting section, select the Exchange rate type and the Currency translation type.
